Vincent Storimans new Head of the VNO Office

After four years, David Abrahams bids farewell to Aruba

Oranjestad – Effective from the start of June 2023, David Abrahams resigns as the Head of the Office of the Representation of the Netherlands in Oranjestad (VNO), Aruba, and as Deputy Representative of the Netherlands in Aruba. Effective from the 3rd of Julyhe is succeeded by Vincent Storimans.

After having been employed at the VNO for almost four years, Mr Abrahams and his family returns to the Netherlands where he remains active for the Ministry of the Interior and Kingdom Relations of which the Representation of the Netherlands in Aruba is part. As of the 1st of August, he will start there as the Head of the Finance Department.

Mr Abrahams says the following about his time in Aruba:

“It is without any doubt the most beautiful and most fascinating position of my career to date. It gives me satisfaction that I have been able to make a contribution towards getting through the Covid-19 crisis. I am particularly grateful to my fantastic team of colleagues of the Representation of the Netherlands in Aruba, without whom I would not have been able to fulfil this position.”

Mr Abrahams is succeeded by Vincent Storimans (43), who starts at the VNO on the 3rd of July. Mr Storimans studied European private law at the University of Amsterdam and worked as a diplomat at the Dutch embassies in Moscow, Beijing, and Washington D.C., with his last position being that of Deputy Consul General in San Francisco. From 2013 until 2015 he was the Private Secretary of the Minister of Foreign Trade and Development Cooperation, then Lilianne Ploumen.

“I look forward to contributing to the important and broad relationship between Aruba and the Netherlands. And I hope that my knowledge of economic diplomacy – and eight years of work experience in the United States – will be useful”, according to Mr Storimans.
